“Peaky Blinders”: Birmingham organizes in September a festival on the universe of the series

Re-enactments, concerts and exhibitions are on the programme of this first official festival of the British series Peaky Blinders on the occasion of its 5th season.

Take out jackets and caps gavroches. For the launch of season 5 of Peaky Blinders, the city of Birmingham, UK, is hosting a festival entirely devoted to the world of the gangster series. It will be held on the weekend of September 14 and 15, in the Digbeth district. It is the first official festival of Peaky Blinders, explains the BBC website (in English), while unofficial events have already been organized, some of which have aroused the anger of fans (in English).

The Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival is piloted by Steven Knight, the creator of the series. It promises an “immersive reconstruction of the world of Peaky Blinders”. ” I wanted to organize a festival that we allowed and not comment on someone else’s attempt,’ he told the BBC. Actors from the series should be present, depending on the event site.

Concerts, exhibitions and poetry

The festival includes numerous concerts, with five stages: artists Anna Calvi (who participated in the BO of the upcoming season 5), Slavs, Mike Skinner, Nadine Shah and Primal Scream are already scheduled. The rest is varied: dance show, fashion show, exhibition of accessories of the series and poetry battles. Two hundred actors are expected to recreate scenes, notes the BBC. A question-and-answer session with Steven Knight will also be organized. Tickets will be available on August 9th on the AXS website.

Peaky Blinders tells the story of a family of criminals from Birmingham, led by the dangerous Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) during the interwar period. The series is broadcast on BBC Two in Great Britain and on Arte in France. It is also available on Netflix.
