Midnight Club: Los Angeles

When it comes to street racing, there’s always been an element of divide between the casuals and the hardcore. Pass the latter a copy of Need For Speed and they’ll turn their nose up at its shoddy racing mechanics and unpolished gameplay, while the former wallow in the Vin Diesel-tainted world of underground racing clubs, stiletto-bound ladies and pimped up GTIs.

If you’re one of those repulsed by EA Black Box’s annual pump-outs, that’s perfectly understandable; they’ve never exactly been “highly-tuned”, with vehicle handling more akin to that of a wonky supermarket trolley than a specced out consumer car. What isn’t so comprehendible, however, is the similar treatment shown to Rockstar’s Midnight Club series. This wasn’t on your radar, was it, avid gamer?
